Happy Thanksgiving to all who read this blog. I am remembering how Thanksgiving was observed when I was a child. They used to devote the month of November to promoting Thanksgiving. Now there is very little talk until a couple of days before Thanksgiving.
I believe that it is because our culture is moving away from her Christian heritage. As a culture we no longer are thankful. All of the holidays are losing their Christian emphasis. Other holidays are either commercialized or subjected to alternate interpretation(i.e Easter bunnies and Santa Claus) Thanksgiving is less susceptible to these influences so it simply gets de-emohasized.
I want to thank God this thankgiving and wish to remind everyone reading that we owe every good thing to God.There is no ability or resource that we have that was not given or based upon something that was given to us. I praise God for His Mighty Providence in the midst of the storm we are in. I praise Him that He fulfills His promises. I praise Him for the victory that is coming- a victory He has already purchased for you and me. I thank Him for the sacrifice Jesus made to save you and me from eternal fire.
